Thoughts for My People

Sending flower power!

Just when we all started to feel relieved that the aftershocks seemed to be easing off, we were hit with another earthquake bigger than the first one in the middle of last night. Despite all the efforts of my people, the situation has become considerably bad, and may get worse with rainstorm nearing the affected areas. We are now feeling extremely helpless before raging Mother Nature.

But as I went out today to do my little bit to support the affected, I noticed signs that Mother Nature still loves us:

Azalea

Azalea is the town flower where I live, so they are planted everywhere – by the side of the road (top left), in front of a mall (bottom left), in the corner of a gasoline stand (top right), by the entrance to a museum (centre), in the mini-garden in front of my apartment (background), just to list a few. And they were all blooming!

But that is not all that Mother Nature was telling me. “Take care of yourself for me” is the language of flower of azalea… whaddayaknow! How could I not forward this message to my people who are suffering? So I post this photo with the hopes that everyone in the affected areas will be safe tonight.

Maybe you could join me in sending flower power to my people?

I would not dare ask you to do anything special or extraordinary. Only that, if you happen to find some flower power while living your life as you would on any given day – in the garden, in the vase, in some drawing or painting, in some writing or song, in a project you are working on… whatever! – you would kindly share it with my people.

For example, I found some poppies printed on a traditional wear passed down to me from a relative:

Poppies

“Consolation for a loss” and “Restful sleep and recovery”

And I cannot forget our soul flower, cherry blossoms (sorry, I willingly broke the promise I made just a few days ago!) in tatting:

“Smiles for you”

Maybe you could post your version of flower power on your site?

And maybe you can let me know by leaving a comment?

Again, there is no need at all for you to go out of your way. It’s just another “maybe” I was entertaining myself with today, as I would on any given day.
